The last day of first semester is Friday, January 27th. This marks the halfway point of the school year and the last day of fall semester-long electives. Please encourage your student to go into Skyward and with them look together for any assignments that are missing. Encourage them to get them completed and turned in to their teachers as soon as possible and not wait until the last minute. Not all missing assignments will be able to be turned in. Please communicate with your student’s teacher to determine what will still be accepted. The semester grade is represented on a student’s middle school transcript (and additionally their high school transcript in the case of high school level courses such as World Language, Algebra, and Geometry). We want students’ semester grades to reflect what they know and are able to do for the standards in each of their classes. If your child has missing assignments, please help them develop a plan for getting these done. In addition, many teachers allow students the opportunity to redo assignments, or retake tests if they did poorly the first time. This is an opportunity for students to continue learning after an assessment and to have that new learning reflected in their semester grade.
